Women in International Security (WIIS) Brussels, in collaboration with Women Political Leaders (WPL) and The Nine, are pleased to organise this special event on the occasion of the launch of Linda Robinson's latest book, featuring the acclaimed author herself.
Join us for an engaging conversation on women’s leadership in times of geopolitical uncertainty, democratic backsliding, and growing authoritarian pressures. Drawing on global case studies and first-hand insights, Dr. Nad’a Kovalcikova, Senior Analyst at the EU Institute for Security Studies will lead a discussion with the renowned book author Linda Robinson on how women leaders have shaped foreign policy, strengthened democratic resilience, and responded to complex security challenges.
About the Book
In Women in Power, Linda Robinson explores how women leaders across the world have successfully navigated foreign policy, national security, and major democratic challenges. The book highlights how women heads of government have built resilient democratic coalitions, strengthened international partnerships, and responded to authoritarian pressure and hybrid threats. Particular attention is given to leadership within the EU and NATO, including efforts related to technological regulation, security cooperation, and enlargement.
Participants will engage on:
- The evolving challenges facing women leaders in today’s geopolitical environment
- Leadership strategies for responding to authoritarianism, hybrid warfare, and political polarisation
- The impact of gendered disinformation and online attacks on women in leadership

Linda Robinson
Linda Robinson is senior fellow for women and foreign policy at the Council on Foreign Relations. She was previously director of the Center for
Middle East Public Policy at the RAND Corporation.
A former foreign correspondent, Robinson is the author of three acclaimed and bestselling books about America’s “long wars’’.
